Changing the way the turn off button functions

The turn off button on the start menu puts your computer in the power saving mode, but does not completly shut it down. Result: the computer keeps on consuming power.
solution:
Add a shutdown function to the turn off button. For that click on power options in the control panel. Double click 'Power options', select 'Change Plan Settings', for any one of the plans that you are using. Here, click 'change advanced power settings'. Click 'power buttons and lid', and then click on 'Start menu power button, change the settings for 'On battery' or 'plugged on' from sleep to shutdown and click ok and close
